Find Your Strength In God

Find Your Strength In God ~ Raq Hazaq Amas
Pastor Tim Elliott

In Joshua 1 God told Joshua four times to be strong and courageous. In verse 9 He said this is my command, be strong and courageous. In verse 18 he said if you rebel against the command it would end in death. And He ends the chapter “Only be strong and very courageous.” That is the Hebrew phrase “Raq Hazaq Amas”. That became the battle cry of a warrior, a champion. In the Hebrew it literally means – only prevail in every battle because you have My strength. If we have God’s strength then how could we lose a battle? We win every time. If God commanded you to prevail then how could you lose?

In the New Testament the Apostle Paul had a lot to say about your strength. I believe he had a true revelation of Raq Hazaq Amas. Let’s take a look.

  1. We are strong through grace.

Healing In His Wings

Healing In His Wings

Tim Elliott

God wants you well!!! So much so that He gave His Son, Jesus, to take stripes on his body so that you could be healed!! How does that work? I don’t think any of us will ever totally understand it. All I know is that I’m well. I’ve seen healing miracles all my life. Because of Jesus!! God wants you well!!!

There is a curious passage of scripture in the book of Malachi that talks about healing in His wings. Let’s read it.

Malachi 4:2 New Living Translation  “But for you who fear my name, the Sun of Righteousness will rise with healing in his wings. And you will go free, leaping with joy like calves let out to pasture.

I had to ask what in the world did he mean when he said, “His wings”?

What I found out is that the word “wings” here means the hem or border of a garment. And he was referring to tassels that the children of Israel wore on the edge of their garments. Let’s read about them in the book of Numbers.

Happy New Year!!!

Happy New Year
Pastor Tim Elliott

December was a full month of activities and fun. Linda Elliott was such a blessing to the ladies at our annual Ladies’ Christmas Party. We had combined Christmas parties with Door of Hope and The Singles Ministry. Our staff enjoyed a Christmas party at Cinergy. We had a blast. Then we thoroughly enjoyed watching “The Heart of Christmas” as a church family. My favorite part of the whole Christmas season was hearing our kids sing Christmas songs to the Lord at our Christmas program “Journey To Bethlehem”. They did an Outstanding job. Everyone has said such positive things about it.

Now we step into 2019. Great things are ahead for us. For one we will welcome the Jubilee Gang this summer for a 3 night family crusade. There will be much more about that later. But mark your calendars for June 30 – July 2. And make sure to bring the entire family.

January 1 is a day that traditionally we make New Year’s resolutions. From losing the holiday weight to exercising. Bible reading fits in there somewhere. Read more…

Six Things That Will Strengthen You

Six Things That Will Strengthen You

Joshua 1:9   “Have I not commanded you? Be strong and of good courage; do not be afraid, nor be dismayed, for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go.”

God commanded us to be strong. The phrase be strong and of good courage is the Hebrew phrase, “Hazaq Amas”. In verse 18 he adds “Only”. “Raq Hazaq Amas”.

My interpretation of this phrase is:

There’s only one way this battle is going to turn out. I’m going to conquer or prevail, because God infuses or fortifies me with His strength. And His strength cannot fail.

Glory To God!!!! This became the battle cry of a Champion. God is looking for Champions. Will you be one?

God’s Demand For Your Life

By Tim Elliott

Micah 6:8 “He has shown you, O man, what is good; and what does the Lord require of you:

But to do justly,

To love mercy,

And to walk humbly with your God.

I love this verse from The Contemporary English Version

The Lord God has told us what is right and what He demands:

See that justice is done

Let mercy be your first concern

Humbly obey your God.

Micah 7:18 Who is a God like you, pardoning iniquity and passing over the transgression of the remnant of His heritage? He does not retain His anger forever,  because He delights in mercy.

Psalm 86:5 For You Lord are good, and READY TO FORGIVE, and abundant in mercy to all those who call upon You.

God has three demands that He places on our life.
Number One – do what’s right.
Number Two – Make mercy your first concern.
Number 3 – Humbly obey God.

When you don’t do what’s right, God is abundant in mercy and ready to forgive. We’ll look at that in the life of David a little later. And when someone doesn’t do right to you, God demands that you show mercy and be ready to forgive. That is not always an easy task. But the scripture is clear that we can. We just have to make up our mind that we’re going to humbly obey God in this matter. Let’s take a look at a couple more verses.

This week I had the honor of preaching at a youth camp. Their theme was “Survivors”. My assignment was to teach the book of Colossians. I found six keys to Survival for your Christian walk. I want to share them with you.
  1. Christian survivors care about lost souls.

This same Good News that came to you is going out all over the world. It is bearing fruit everywhere by changing lives, just as it changed your lives from the day you first heard and understood the truth about God’s wonderful grace. Colossians 1:6 NLT

The good news of Jesus resurrection changed my life and is still changing lives today. Every time I hear about someone who’s life has been totally changed by Jesus Christ it gives me more resolve to continue living for Jesus. Paul said to do the work of an evangelist. Nothing will give you more spiritual energy than seeing someone give their life to Jesus.
